The Team
![]() Laird Hepburn, CFP® Partner Phone: (919) 901-1038 Schedule an appointment | Email | LinkedIn What should you know about me? I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, a husband, a father, and a teacher to loads of elementary kids. I'm also a Managing Partner of BSG Advisers. I enjoy woodworking, volunteering, teaching, and puttering around the house. If I'm gone, I'm either travelling, hiking, camping, SCUBA diving, flying, sailing or laying on a beach. On rare occasions, I can be found playing guitar. Many moons ago, I was in a band, but I've mostly forgotten how to play (sad I know.) This is my third career. My first career was as a Naval Aviator. My original life goal was to study horticulture, become a military pilot then become an astronaut and eventually a space farmer. I hatched that plan in 1978. I think I was a little ahead of my time. Perhaps in 100 years we'll be farming and living in space. But, back to the Navy. I served on active duty until 1995. It was really rewarding but it was also difficult. When I left active duty, I took my degree in applied mathematics and joined KMPG as a consultant. I also kept my foot in the military as a Navy Reservist until 2010. From 1995 to 2008, I worked with a lot of companies to help them improve their operations and business performance. I enjoyed my career, but it took a toll on my family and me. In 2008, I left the consulting world to focus on my family and community life in my adopted home of Cary, NC. I learned early in life that many people have an unhealthy relationship with money. Some hoard it while others squander it. Some choose wisely and others foolishly. Some look to the future while others look only at today. My life experiences shaped my views on money. I started my personal financial planning career in 2008 and founded BSG with Bobby Picha in 2013. I enjoy working closely with business owners and families where our team can have high impact on their financial well-being through the creative use of investment and insurance solutions. |

BSG is a fiduciary financial planning firm that focuses on planning, investments, and insurance for individuals, families and small business owners. He spends most of his time at work helping clients with financial planning, investments, and insurance. His experience dates to the mid 1990’s working his way through college at JP Morgan Chase and later for Warburg Pincus Funds, and Credit Suisse. In 2017, he built a home in Holly Springs, NC after enjoying the prior decade in Fuquay-Varina. Bobby is married to his wife Janine, and has two sons, James and William. He prides himself on straight talk and explaining seemingly difficult concepts in ways that laypeople can understand. He really enjoys client interaction and giving people very specific advice knowing that most folks simply do not have the time or desire to get smart on financial matters. Bobby is an amateur chef, baseball player, boxer, USTA tennis player, goalkeeper, chess master, and mathematician. During his 23-year career, Bobby spent 7 years teaching Constitutional Law to inner city children in NYC. During those years, his students amassed ELEVEN Invitational Moot Court Championships, a feat so incredible, he is humbled to this day as a result. Bobby’s ‘planning’ career began in 2010 when he joined AXA Advisors in Raleigh and began working with individuals and small business owners. It was at AXA when he teamed up with Laird Hepburn and forged the partnership which would eventually evolve into BSG Advisers. |

![]() Douglas Daffron, CFP® Investment Adviser/Financial and Retirement Planner Phone: 919-949-6895 Email | LinkedIn What should you know about me? I am a believer and follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, a husband, a father of 2 and a lifelong student of learning what this life has to offer. I enjoy golfing, walking, traveling, ballroom, and social dancing. After graduating college at the University of Missouri – Columbia, I had visions of being a Physical Education Teacher. However, after being a substitute teacher for a couple of years, I realized I did not want to have that as a career. I did enjoy teaching, and this led me to become a Ballroom Dance Instructor. I continued with this and became a studio owner of 4 franchised studios. I then became an Area Franchisor of 22 studios. After 25 years in this fun industry, I began to sell my interest in the studios and my wife wanted our family to take a sabbatical. Thus, being a good husband, we did for 2 years. We went to the Dominican Republic and it was the best for our children to experience the island life, as well as for me to recharge my “fun” batteries. Read more about Douglas...When we returned to the US, I was asked to start the business council for the franchise studios that I remained a part of. During this time, I realized I wanted to help the business owners get to their retirement years without sweating payroll and rent. This led me to become educated as a CFP in 2012. In 2016, to meet people outside of the dance industry, I started a path toward real estate investing. I now enjoy helping individuals and business owners plan for the time that their money can work for them, instead of them working for money – unless of course they still enjoy what they do. Because as my father always told me, “If you love what you do – you won’t ever work a day in your life!” |
![]() Suyoung Cha Financial Planner Phone: 612-450-8318 Schedule an appointment | Email | LinkedIn My main goals in life are to make heaven crowded, love my wife, and expand my comfort zone every day. I was born in Seoul, South Korea but moved to Minnesota with my family at the age of 7. My wife’s story is also very similar. She is a Russian born in Israel who moved to Minnesota at the age of 6. We’ve got a lot of culture between the two of us, which is why we’re very passionate about experiencing the diversity in our world. In my free time, I also enjoy cooking, camping, helping with kid’s ministry, building computers, and trying to learn Russian and Hebrew (key word trying). Being multicultural is why I love finance so much. It is its own culture with a complete language, value system, and institutions. Navigating the world of finance is like navigating a new country. Its cities are the important milestones such as first home, sending children off to college, and retirement. On your own, the journey may be daunting. But it can be accomplished with the right tools. My purpose is to be just that, a financial GPS for my clients. They tell me where they are, where they want to get to, and I figure out the path. And just like a GPS, I alert them of upcoming turns, warn them of accidents, and even reroute if I have to. Read more about Suyoung... |
